Meet Kreisa
Hello! I'm Kreisa Duwe, M.Ed., C-SLDI
I wake up every morning excited to help kids fall in love with reading. What started as wanting to teach has turned into something way deeper: figuring out exactly how little brains learn to make sense of all those squiggly letters on a page.
For over 11 years, I've been that teacher who gets genuinely enthused about phonemic awareness data and does a happy dance when a struggling reader finally has their lightbulb moment. I’ve loaded up on the science behind reading instruction with a certification from the Institute of Multi-Sensory Instruction Orton-Gillingham, completed LETRS training, and passed the KPEERI because I wanted to know not just what works, but why it works.
My classroom in Bigfork, Minnesota has become this place where all that research meets real kids with real needs. I've bumped my students' math scores up 20% and helped students master foundational reading skills at a rate of 120% not because I have some magic teaching powers, but because I've learned how to meet each kid exactly where they are and nudge them forward from there.
All those late nights creating lessons and trying to organize my teacher chaos led to something unexpected. Turns out I'm pretty good at making resources that actually make teaching easier and learning more fun. What started as stuff I made just to survive my own classroom has become something other teachers keep asking me to share.
Living in northern Minnesota means I'm usually three trends behind everyone else, but I stay current on what actually matters: how kids learn best. I take all this fancy training and mix it with the heart of someone who just really, really loves helping little ones discover they can read.
When I'm not teaching or making resources, I am either snowshoeing, golfing, or moonlight paddle boarding.

Why I Share on Teachers Pay Teachers
I used to stay up until midnight making materials from scratch, wondering if some teacher in Texas had already figured out the perfect way to teach comparing numbers. Now when I create something that actually works in my classroom (like alligator templates that somehow keep 20 first graders focused), I share it so other teachers don't have to reinvent the wheel at 11 PM.
