A Note from an Old Student

October 25, 2020 is when I originally wrote What a 7 Year Old Taught Me about Showing Up. I posted about a student who was dealt a bad hand in life but kept showing up to school because of the support he felt from the staff. I remember the para and teacher that were in my classroom the day he chose to show up & tell us how important school (& compassion from staff) was to him. I still see him occasionally in passing. He left me this note on my desk recently. He’ll never understand the impact he had on me, and continues to have. I’m grateful for moments like this with my students and thank you to whatever teacher gave him the opportunity to make this.

Dear Mrs. Duwe, Thank you for always haveing a good adutude and making me happy.
